Holly over at Custom Comix kindly let me share my Lois ramblings on her blog. Thank You!!
A thoughtful and comprehensive critical analysis of the relationship of Superman/Clark and Lois Lane with a focus on Lois Lane’s characterization. It’s a great read, so read it all. However, here’s an excerpt:
Why shouldn’t Lois be attracted to Superman? Why would that diminish her as a strong woman? It doesn’t but I think it goes back to the 1950s idea where Lois Lane’s attraction to Superman is portrayed as power hungry and man eating. Instead of how it was written in Birthright and Secret Origin. In those two stories we were shown two people with similar values and goals meet and recognize their ideal in the other. Just as I thought a lot of the women issues playing out right now were put to rest years ago (contraception anybody?), I thought we had turned the corner with Lois Lane. Clearly I was wrong. I think in the stories DiDio and Lee have control over they’re going out of their way to separate Lois and Clark.

YES. THANK YOU.
I fucking hated that play.
It was all hormones and no substance whatsoever. Seriously.
TRUTH. IN. WORDS.
I’m not a fan of Shakespeare. I’ve read it, studied it, seen it performed, performed it myself, some plays are less terrible than others, but Romeo & Juliet is without a doubt one of the worst of the lot and people think it’s a romance to be emulated.
Also it was much more likely that Romeo was in his late twenties, at the earliest.

Here are some notes and images from Lois Lane, Girl Reporter, a pitch for a series of illustrated young adult novels I worked on a few years ago for DC Comics. Story by me, with considerable brainstorming help from my pal John Campbell, and art by Project: Rooftop fan favorite Daniel Krall.
My wonderful editor, Chris Cerasi, was a real champion of the series, which we codenamed “Project 77,” and while we had a great time working on it and finding this secret window into the DCU, it doesn’t look like the current leadership of DC is remotely interested in this kinda thing. I thought some Lois Lane fans here on the interwebs might at least like a look at what might have been…
